A part of moving away is enjoying returning home for visits. Since summertime is regatta and wedding season, and we recently had the opportunity to return to Wisconsin for both. The warmth of the reception we received was overwhelming, and the pace we needed to keep was frenetic, and we enjoyed every minute!
A Scow Nationals
As soon as we were in town we jumped right into action. As always, Pewaukee Yacht Club did a fantastic job hosting the A Scows. Regatta chairs Dex and Todd Haines assembled a great group of volunteers, with the PYC staff (including our favorite – Kyle Snyder), to allow 19 A Scows to compete in a great environment.

America’s weekend
Celebrating the 4th on Pewaukee begins sharply at 0900 with rounds of salutes, culminating with a fireworks display that gets better every year. A very fun weekend to catch up with family and friends and celebrate our country.
E Scow Invite
The following weekend took us to Madison’s Lake Mendota where the Sugars and the Inland’s Dave Berg overcame Covid restrictions and logistical challenges to run a great regatta.
ILYA E Scow Invite – Competitors and Results
No wind on Friday allowed for tuning and repairs, as well as spending time with friends on State St and the UW Terrace. Conditions on Saturday let us run 3 great races. Sunday was exciting with big breeze. Only one race sailed on Sunday before gusts went over class limits.
A Wedding for a fabulous couple
After a couple of regattas back in Charleston (more to come), we flew back to Wisconsin to be part of the wedding of our nephew. Andria and Ben had a beautiful day to celebrate with family and friends.
